Mobile Web Is Not Dead But Mobile App Will Rule the Future

There are many companies who are still in the dilemma whether to go for dedicated mobile apps or a mobile website? In the early stages of m-commerce there was a lot of debate over this topic – Mobile Apps VS Mobile Site. But with the emerging time, companies have understood the importance of mobile apps. Although it’s still primarily based on the need and requirements of the company to decide whether they should go with mobile website or mobile app.

Looking at the latest report submitted by Compuware suggests that consumer preference is strongly in the favor of mobile apps these days i.e. 85% ahead of the mobile websites. And the most common reason for it is that – apps are seen to be more convenient (55%), faster (48%) and easier to browse (40%). Below you can see the benefit of mobile apps vs. mobile sites

If we check the status, a common person who uses mobile phones in daily purposes mostly for gaming, social media networking and bit of internet browsing for any information after calling and messaging and where messaging has gone to its another level which is again an application that uses your mobile internet and with this you can sent free messages all across the world e.g. WhatsApp, Line and Viber etc.

According to Flurry's data, application use has grew from 80% of peoples i.e. now people use phone from 2h6m daily to 86%, or 2h19m. Mobile web use has dropped from 31m to 22m, as measured for the study by another research company, ComScore. In this same report, it shows that gaming is the biggest single category of use with 32% of peoples' time on average, followed by Facebook (17%). Other social messaging including Twitter comprises 11%, followed by YouTube (4%). News apps take up 3% of peoples' time spent on the device.

Still in most of the cases, where you have a web-based app, you will also find the mobile website with it. But why users are considering apps more than mobile sites? The answer is simple – apps are convenient, have a quick response time if compared to sites. However, it got some disadvantages too; as a poor app can completely ruined the trust factor of a user and he/she will discourage to use it in the near future again. So, it is important whenever you are going for a mobile app development always choose the company which are industry best! Keep a regular check and updates over these apps and try to fix bugs (if any) as soon as possible.

Where industry is going towards tablets, smartphones, phablets designing the applications for each platform is pretty tricky and on the other hand, mobile websites are cheaper when it comes to cost of development. But ultimately you have to decide where you will find your targeted customers? If your targeted customer are available on mobile websites making applications really doesn’t make a sense but if your targeted customers are available and are using apps then as the survey suggest going towards the mobile application development direction is always beneficial for your company. Lastly, it is very important to understand the need; if it demands for a mobile app then you should definitely go towards this direction as the mobile app uses are getting popular day by day!
